BBQ Sauce: Low FODMAP and Processed-Sugar FREE

I haven’t eaten barbecue sauce in over 10 years! Probably close to 13 years now. Ever since I discovered that I couldn’t eat sugar this food was simply written out of my meal plan. I used to love it too. So, last summer when a friend of mine was raving about the amazing barbecue ribs he made in his pressure cooker I decided it was time for me to try to conquer the adaptation of this food. I am happy to report the mission accomplished. Everyone seems to love my sauce. My eldest even requested it for his birthday this year. It is made with coconut palm sugar instead of regular sugar so it is friendlier for diabetics, low FODMAP diets, and individuals with fructose and sucrose sensitivities.

Ingredients:

1 C Coconut Palm Sugar

(10-20 drops liquid stevia- only if needed to achieve your desired taste)

1 -15oz can Tomato Sauce

3 TB Tomato Paste

¼ C Apple CIder Vinegar

1 TB Coconut Aminos

¼ C + 1 TB Mustard

1 tsp Paprika

1 tsp Salt

1 tsp Black Pepper

¼ tsp Cayenne Pepper

Directions:

  1. Place all the ingredients into a saucepan and stir to combine.

  2. Bring to a boil or medium to medium-high heat.

  3. Allow boiling for 1 minute while stirring.

  4. Remove from heat and allow it to cool.

That’s it!
